3.0 V6 ES9A rough warming up and longer crank

Unread post by kaban »

Hi, I have an issue with my 2005 Citroen C5 3.0 V6. The mileage is quite normal—190,000 km—but the car is in very good condition. Its only problem was, of course, the noise on startup—VVT rattle and slight oil leaks from the VVT solenoids. I replaced the complete timing belt kit along with the VVT and its solenoids. I also replaced the valve cover gaskets as they were starting to leak oil slightly. I reassembled everything properly. The intake system is completely sealed, and the crankcase ventilation pipes are fine as well.

Before these repairs, during cold starts, the engine would run a bit rough for several seconds, unevenly, but it was acceptable. After the catalytic converter warm-up cycle, it would smooth out. Unfortunately, after the recent repairs, the situation has worsened. After starting the engine, it runs unevenly, and the roughness is much more noticeable now. Also, when I park it hot and return after several minutes, the engine cranks for a long time before starting. I suspect there might be an issue with the fuel system, but not all the symptoms match.

When you say runs unevenly do you mean not on all cylinders? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Unstable, These are not misfires. I dont see any in Lexia. I suspect fuel pulsation buffer, which is on the fuel lines in the engine bay. Its a damn shame that none od my adapters fit the port there for measuring fuel pressure.
