Hi I have a Peugeot 3008 hybrid 4 2013 and it has a rotational noise from the rear right hand side and it is not the wheel bearings and it’s not the reduction gear or motor as they have been replaced and the same noise was there before changing the motor and reduction gear I have replaced the right hand side drive shaft and the noise is a little better do you think it could possibly be the rear left side drive shaft causing the noise and transferring the noise along the drive shaft through the reduction gear so it sounds like a noise from the right hand rear?? It’s worse when accelerating hard and then going on over run so the electric motor is working harder to charge the traction battery!!

Having already replaced the driveshaft etc I would suggest it may be worth checking the ABS ring to be sure it is not rubbing

Hi mick I have just checked both ABS target rings and sensors and are ok I have good gaps and no faults on ABS ecu!!, do think it could possibly be the left driveshaft!! I’ve noticed it has a fair bit of play up and down and in and out!!

It is always a possibility, having replaced the reduction gear there is not much left and lateral play is never good!

Hi today I replaced the left driveshaft and the noise was a lot better, but it still has a noise, I put a second hand reduction gear on last week and I am thinking now that the second hand reduction gear was not so good, hence I have the same noise, as with the old reduction gear, I opened the old reduction and all the bearings seem ok but I found quite a lot of end float on the plant gears in the differential possibly causing the noise, what are your ideas!!

I hadn't realised that you replaced your reduction gear with a second hand one. As you have two I would suggest finding a specialist who can rebuild your spare to as new condition and then fitting that back in.

Hi I have removed the reduction gearbox again and stripped it and found x2 worn and noisy gear bearings, so today I am replacing them with new bearings and rebuilding and refitting reduction gear, I will let you know how it goes!!

Hi today I have replaced the bearings and diff seals in the second hand reduction gear and put it all back in the car and programmed again and road tested and all nice and quiet now, no more noise, thanks for your input!!
