Auto gearbox flushing machine

Unread post by Uberderv »

Hi all ☺️

Next year I'd like to flush/exchange my EAT8 gearbox oil. I've read the guides about replacing 1/3 at a time which is ok but I've also read there is a machine that will flush the whole lot...

My question is, can it be built DIY? I've only used a garage twice in 20+ years and I'm not planning on breaking that. Obviously I'd post the results here and have access to all sorts of equipment.

Any help about the gearbox spec or the flushing machine spec would be much appreciated!!

The picture attached is my gearbox.

I use an oil extractor cartridge like the one in the link, putting the suction hose in through the fill/level plug and measure the amount I get out and then replace the same quantity.: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/387561454582 ... BMot64yqhm :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

I had to use an oil extractor for my lawnmower engine. It is a hand pump like the one in the eBay link you posted, but a lot smaller. That was a painful exercise extracting all of the oil!

When I clicked on your link, eBay showed me a similar pump but with a 12V motor, for an extra £9. Would that not be worth the money?
Cheers,

With a gearbox I would think you would get max drainage via the sump plug.....only a pressure line "oil divert'er/exchang'er) will fully extract all the old oil.

Some Volvo dealerships have this equipment for the same gearbox design I understand.
