2015 C4 Timing Belt

Evening all

My wife's Citroen C4 is due for a timing belt and water pump change.

I believe it's a Blue HDI but am not sure if it's a 1.5 or 1.6 engine that's in it. The VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].

Does anybody know the engine specs?

I've seen a couple of timing belt and water pump kits but am not sure of the correct part number for that car.

Also, does anybody know where I might find the instructions for doing the job too?

Hopefully this video will show you how David, but I'm afraid we are still without Stellantis database access to get your specs.

2015 is too early for the 1.5 engine. So you'll have the 1.6 BlueHdi, same as our 308.

To get the right parts for your car you might be best to visit a dealer and use your vin. Note that pattern parts may have a different replacement interval to Citroen ones. Whilst there also get them to give you a quote for the job to see how much you will save by doing it yourself. For our Cactus in December 2023 the timing belt/tensioner/pulley/water pump/coolant were £267 at the dealer but with fitting plus an aux belt/tensioner it was £780.

Citroen have closed all our local dealers now so going to see them is a pain. It’s a huge factor as to why this will be our last PSA car as well.

Their fixed price service offer for the belt and water pump on the C4 is £759. If genuine parts cost half of that I’ll be going aftermarket as it’s only a belt, 1 idler and a tensioner. I always try and stick to genuine but the price of parts these days is going wild.

Typically, as this is due a timing belt it’s developed a rattle that I believe only a drop link thankfully and a TPMS fault. All before it’s due an MOT at the start of Oct.

Put an SKF kit on my 3008 last year - their website has a selector so you can find the kit number - then look elsewhere to get it cheaper! Other brands will no doubt be the same. No point in paying dealer prices for a belt kit, they just re box one of the brand names anyway. It's a straight forward job as cambelts go.

Thanks Richard, found an SKF kit on eBay for £86 so I'll get that ordered up.
