won't stop!

Unread post by ohms69 »

Hi all,
My TZD BX has decided it no longer wants to stop when the ignition is switched off.
I have my suspicions it's the stop solenoid, but the last time that went it kept stopping and would not run.
What do you think?
thanks chaps

Does it stop when you press the stop lever on the pump ?
If so I would agree its probably the solenoid.

The stop solonoid is an electrovalve - reputed to get swallen by heat and stick.
Cant see why it should not stick in fuel open position ?
- as the plunger would lock when the valve valve fails.

You could try disconnecting the cable to the stop solenoid with the engine running. If it fails to stop-- jammed solenoid. If it stops, you've an electrical fault with voltage still being applied with the ingnition off.

Its likely to be the rubber end on the stop solenoid. i have replaced a few in my time they develop a litle hole in the end and dont work, my local parts gut has en on the shelf for about twenty quid but take yours as a pattern.
