PEUGEOT 206CC WHY DID IHOW DO I AND WHAT DID I DO .

Unread post by Huskyxantia »

Let me state spelling was and has and still is a problem with me ive never been good at it even spell checkers don't seem to be of help to me as sometimes wrong words will be dropped and it makes me look even more stupid , if thats possible..

206cc why did i and what happend.

April 2021 cold hard frost weather was very cold at the beginning of this year I spent the winter months looking at old Peugeot 206cc's and thought get a cheap on fix it up and work my way up to what I really wanted but at the time didn't have the funds a 308cc diesel.

For an £80 punt i got a 1.6hdi 206cc no mot due abs,esp lights on dash , it drove good but failed because of the lights.
Lights were esp,abs I purchased the car from sheerness in Kent it was even delivered to me for £50 it drove it ran it stopped it just had abs esp warning up on dash . Simple job I thought, just a sensor, I was however partially right and wrong ish. Here's a set of notes of what I did. The roof worked perfect until then u shaped pins got accidentally moved to the other position when I was giving the car a damp good clean, this video shows the clips I'm going in about at some point in it and it also shows how to do the roof manually.

From April 2019 and better weather finally happend i replaced the complete braking system changed all the abs sensors as they were reading incorrect ohms, video of how to ohms test abs sensors https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&sourc ... hDG75hn9Rr different car but same procedure, I then had full clutch kit conversion from dual to solid followed by headgasket full engine decoke new glow plugs which revealed two tips snapped in the head but easy removed because the head was off. How to remove broken glow plugs tips or this one
I then had two new tyres fitted as the rear were crap and made a lot of rumble noise when driving.

I had all new filters and fluids done how to service a 1.6 peugeot diesel video and reset the warning lights how to rest the service lights 206 video All done.
Till the mot day drove 40 yards up the road all the lights came on the dash and z rumble noise from ns front wheel so i turned round and came back home cancelled the test.

The noise from the ns front wheel was bearing so i purchased a new one pressed out the old bearing to reveal a damaged hub , new hub purchased and new bearing, all new fitted and 3 failed bearings later i had the new hub carrier measured to find out it had been machined wrong it was 80mm going out two 81mm so this all went back and money was refunded .
Dont buy cheap s**t from certain ebay sellers...

A recondition complete hub with bearing was purchased and fitted and that solved that issue. How to change Peugeot 206 front wheel bearing video

I had diagnostic which said ns sensor open or ground with speeds reading over 180mph while car sat in the drive unplugged the sensor it tested normal tested the loom ... no signal. Gosh !

Unplugged loom to abs pump signal came back after plugging it back in then lights off only to come back on on test drive, left the car for a couple of weeks and then decided to dig further into the looms

Took off the loom to abs pump 4 wires were rubbing the inner wing along with one white wire snapped
Soldered all back together heat shrinked the joints and doubled taped the whole loom back together how to unplug abs sensor loom from abs pump part 1
Part 2
Part 3 which shows headlight being put back and other useful stuff

Tested car again lights still on now with code for both rear sensors open or ground to earth.. found the last bit of the problem where I'd probed the connector block the female side was opened that wide the pins of the male didn't contact, squeezed the female pins in plugged the connectors back together ... All lights off computer revealed no codes.. mot in 2 days .. fingers crossed. So all went slightly off piest with health problems and so on till

March 2022 Back in november 21,the car flew through its mot, but 3 weeks later the rad pushed a hole and i lost nearly all coolant, brought 3 bottles of spring water to get home got home engine all good.. Brought another rad fitted this just before xmass 2021. Also fitted new rad fan resistors as its best at this age 2006 model and easy when its all out of the way and easy to work on. Auto doc sent out a claim for for this coolant radiator and after about 2 wks the full amount was put back into my bank account , I didn't have to send thd item back either it went to the scrap man along with other old car parts no longer of use.

January , top mount and drop link repairs due to bad roads , ive spare set of tie rod ball joints and drop links to. Drives better now . Drop links now adays suffer perishing rubber dust covers they seem to rot within a few months. What a difference with the new top mounts so 🤫 silence is golden. So another winter job of making sure all drain holes are clean and clean all rubber seals are lubed and plump and a couple of days use at a time to keep it being attacked by nature's damp and horrble friends called mould and mildew. Hello 2023 and the 206cc wakes up for a run out with its roof down on a bright early spring ( well still winter) afternoon drive . Roof off heating on wind deflector in and what a joy it was warm as toast it was . I then made the decision to upgrade , well for me it was.

I looked at several car selling sites i Px this car later in 2023 for a 2010 308cc priced at £3495. It wiped 1500 off the invoice for the car the 308cc was purchased for £1995 which came with 18months warranty one yr free AA breakdown cover , full service, free checks free delivery and almost a full tank of diesel.
So there we have it my notes of the 206cc to the 308cc with which I hope stay live links to helpful videos which might help someone one day 8-[
