Hi all,
I’m in desperate need of help.
I have replaced the timing belt etc on my 2018 C4 Picasso 1.6 (DV6FC), but now need to torque the crankshaft bolt. The problem is that my car is an automatic, so I’ll need to lock the flywheel. I would be extremely grateful if someone could post specific instructions on how to do this. Is there a page in a manual showing the hole and the specific tool required? Thanks…..

You may find this method will work:
or another method:
I'm sure there is a tool and locking pin available but if you can't find the hole then these are workable alternatives! Good luck

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Many thanks.
I think I’ll give the latter method a try.
Can you see any downsides to that method? Is there any danger that I could damage the crankshaft/bearings etc?
Thanks…

No I shouldn't think so as the only force you will be applying is rotational on the crank pulley nut as you are meant to. If you go for the strap method be sure to use a strong strap and, as I believe he says on the video, make sure you fasten it to the chassis and not another component.

I would be astounded if there isn't a hole in the flex plate to put the pin in through the back plate above the exhaust Flexi. Any cheap set of DV6 timing pins will do - the flywheel pin in mine is 11.5mm. Note that this pin does NOT fit at the timing position, you need to turn the engine forwards while pushing the pin in till it drops into the flywheel, approx 1/4 turn on the crank - it's a bit awkward solo on the floor!

Hi - I’ve got a cheap set of timing pins. I will try and find the hole. Above the exhaust flexi? I will take a look. I’ve searched on line, but I can’t find a photo/diagram. I guess I’ll have to look harder. My concern is that I don’t want to break anything off inside the engine, so am slightly nervous.
Thanks, phil

From a random 1.6 HDi video, this is an earlier engine, but it should be the same:
Note many of the videos incorrectly show this being fitted at the same time as the pin at the belt end - but it won't be in the flywheel hole. Put the pin in till it touches the flywheel then turn the engine forwards using the crank bolt whilst pushing gently on the pin - when you get to the right place it will push in an inch or so, and the crank will lock up.
