Which cars can I raid for a TU head?

Unread post by davejevons »

Hi folks,
It looks like the head on my AX GT has bit the dust following the timing tensioner failing
I'm looking to get a second hand head but not sure which one's will fit. The AX is a K reg 1360 TU with single point injection (Bosch). The Citroen Engine code is KDY - I'm not sure how this translates to Peugeot speak.
Does anyone know if I have to get an injection specific head or will the fittings for the carb'd head be the same? Also, if anyone has a spare head or complete engine I'd be very interested.
cheers
dave.

I think 1.4 engine from a late pug 205, 306, 106 or another ax , zx. However I would only go for one with the same code KDY, as I am sure that there would be some slight differences in the design of the head when compared to a engine which was designed to use a carb instead injection.
These differences would mainly be port design in order to meet emission requirements. I assume yours has a cat being a k reg.

BX14's as well with the KDY coded TU1.4 engine.
Even the earlier K1G should do, as the differences are external parts only, i.e. the thermostat housing with sensor etc.
There are no "power" related diferences between carb/monopoint fitted TU14 engines.

might also be worth checking the bottom end for damage as well. Because if the belt broke at high rpm then the conrods and crank could have suffered damage.
