Good day all Frech Car forum people;
I'm trying to recover a 2010 Citroen C5 1.6 HDi Fap from a relative who suffered a right side lateral impact and was involved in a accident. The right curtain airbag, airbag right seat deployed where the impact occurred, and the driver's knee airbag left side and both seat belts also deployed.
My questions:
1. I'm going to replace the airbag control unit with one that's identical in all the codes indicated on its sticker. Will it require some kind of adaptation or coding separately with a diagnostic machine, or should simply replacing it not pose any major problems?
2. Regarding the impact sensors, I'm sure I should replace the right side sensor, which is where the impact occurred, but I don't know if I need to change any others, since both seat belts deployed (do you think they deploy every time there's a collision or accident, regardless of which side).
I've read that the front sensors activate the driver's knee airbag on the left side. Do you think they should be replaced? Do you know how many it has and where they're installed on the front?
3. Diagnostic machine.......I need to buy one. Which one do you recommend?
I've seen the Lexia on AliExpress. I don't know if it will work, or if not, I should buy one that does all of the things I'm talking about, but that's multi-brand so it works for my other cars, like the Launch, Autel, or another brand. If you recommend any brand or model, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you very much.

Hi and welcome to the FCF,
I'm afraid I can't comment on 1 and 2 but as far as 3 is concerned my suggestion is that you have a look at the discount plan we have with Easydiagnostics at this link, and then maybe contact Jim there for advice on the best diagnostic system for you.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

I haven’t gone through this with an x7 but have with a mk1 c5. In my experience the seatbelt pre-tensioners will always deploy, yes - so you’ll need to replace both.
On the mk1 c5 the srs ECU did not need to recoded (by VIN) to the car, it was simple plug/play from an identical part.

I feel more at ease with the airbag ECU I found an identical part.
And the side and/or front impact sensors will need to be replaced when they were activated due to an accident?
Good day!!

Re: Citroen C5 doubts about sensors after accident
I don’t know about whether any crash sensors need to be replaced. I didn’t have to replace them on mine, though.
