Particle filter additive level too low. Grand picasso 2014

Unread post by DrewKc80 »

Hi,

Have a picasso grand 2014 DV6DTED engine.

The engine management light came on stating "Particle fuel additive level too low, get vehicle repaired".

Something in the back of mind is telling me I've read this car doesn't have an adblue system?? The filler is certainly not best to the fuel cap and I've also looked under the 3rd row seats and where there is a black cap to reveal a yellow cap, my black cap seems flush and not a cap at all.

Can anyone confirm I don't have an adblue system please?

That being the case is it going to be a Eolys fluid?
Is the Eolys fluid a pouch or bottle you squeeze in?

I can provide ViN if necessary.

Additional info I managed to get ...... BVH2 fuel additive dosing tank 0.94
9674605580
4065602AA

Good old YouTube makes it look fairly straight forward to fill but then I need to tell the computer that fluid has been added so it might be a garage job anyway.

Has anyone had this done in Kent recently? What sort of price would I be looking at?

Thank you

It is Eolys required and you may have a pouch or a tank. If it is a pouch you replace the whole pouch, although some do top them up, and if it's a tank it will need refilling using a refill kit from the dealer. Unfortunately we don't have access to the database at the moment to determine which system you have from your VIN but a dealer will be able to tell you and supply the appropriate parts. The eolys tank is usually mounted under the vehicle close to a rear wheel but the actual position varies with model. Replacing it is not too difficult for the average home mechanic. :)
Once refilled it is necessary to tell the system that you have refilled it as the car doesn't actually measure the amount in the tank, it injects it each time you open the fuel cap and keeps a count of the number of times it has injected and hence knows roughly when it needs a refill. Because of that practice it is not advisable to top up the tank more often than necessary, ie wait until just above the empty and refill, that will prolong the life of each Eolys refill :)

Thank you.
And am I right in thinking I don't have an adblue system at all?

Adblue was fitted to some C4 GPs from 2013 onwards so a VIN check is needed to be certain, however if you cannot see a filler cap anywhere, including the boot floor then you may not have it. Best to check with the dealer as we cannot currently look up build sheets from VINs. :)

Would be worth considering the aftermarket rather than dealer for this sort of stuff, eg,

https://www.leadercomponents.com/?s=eol ... pe=product

In my Berlingo I used this to refill the tank https://www.leadercomponents.com/produc ... tanks-new/ which is probably what you need, check with them.

Bear in mind you also need a diagnostic tool to tell the vehicle it has had a replacement tank fitted, even though you've refilled it, it's a countdown-timer style setup that doesn't measure the real level in the additive tank.

Good morning.

Thank you for the replies.

We have the car booked in at a garage for next Monday for £198 with vat, that is to fill the reservoir and reset the computer.

There is a week left of school holiday and I don't want to stay in with the kids.
Is the car ok to drive until Monday? I don't want to make things worse
Having a quick look around it suggests that the reservoir doses a bit of additive when we add fuel to the vehicle. We have half a tank left so if we don't add any more fuel this week then all is good???

Quite right, no problem to use it until then, as I said in my earlier post, :-D

Yeah, sorry, just reread your message.
Took at as not topping up the Eolys tank regularly for some reason.

That's great, thank you

Eolys tanks are easy to refill at home. Just remember to put a container underneath to catch the excess. The cars computer will need to be told it's been reset but it doesn't stop the function of the additive if it's not told, unlike the Adblue system.

Oh really?
So I don't NEED to update the computer? The fault code would remain though without updating the computer?
