I am wondering if anyone has done this before, and if so, what tools did you need.
Mine has finally gone (driver's side), 2005 model.
Given the part is cheap and I can hardly make things worse (I think), I'm minded to have a go if only generalist tools arr needed for the job.

It is not too bad a job, just a bit fiddly. You will need a T30(IIRC) Torx screwdriver, a plastic flat edge trim tool and normal socket sizes. This video is not the greatest but it will point you in the right direction:
