Permanent EGR error and intermittent BSI communication error

Unread post by Dane2025 »

I am dealing with a couple of issues at the moment.

I get the following error codes related to the EGR system 'P12B4 00' and 'P042F 00'. I already ordered a new valve module but have not received it yet.

I also get the following error it comes up multiple times 'U1318 82' (Communication fault with the built-in Systems Interface).

I am not sure how to interpret this error could it have something to do with the EGR valve or is this code unrelated to the EGR system.

Yesterday after the check engine light came up I deleted the error codes through DiagBox. Today I drove about 30 km to work. The engine light did NOT show. However I connected the Diagbox and the same errors reappeared.

P12B4 00
P042F 00
U1318 82
U1318 82

The 'U1318 82' error came up twice.

I know that the right rear door handle is not functioning correctly, also I have purposely jammed the starts/stop switch with some silver/alu foil as I hate this function.

Otherwise nothing has been done to the car.

Any suggestions?

I would think it is possible that your start/stop modification may be causing your communications error but hopefully one of the more knowlegeable members on your car will see your query and give you some advice. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

If you remove the foil from the stop/start switch you can then eliminate that as a possible fault. On our cars I have found the batteries are usually not charged up enough for the stop/start to work so it saves having to press the switch to turn it off.
