Presumably, as you've posted in the Citroen section, this is for C5 Tourer?
What is fitted to the 508?
What years are the two vehicles?

Not familiar with either engine, but the specs are allegedly the same so difficult to think what would actually be different and any compatibility issues. Perhaps it’s a code that varies depending on plant they were manufactured in?

This site (which says it can supply brand new original engines) suggests they both carry the same original PSA part number and are therefore identical.

I'm looking for a used one for my 2014 C5 tourer.
Could have posted elsewhere as this engine I'd fitting a lot of different cars/brands

Found several ah01. Sellers are pretending that they are interchangeable but nobody including official dealerships can point out differences.

But I know for sure that at least crankshafts carry different parts numbers

I'm looking for an used engine for my tourer.
Can't find an acceptable AH02.
Have been offered several times AH01 by sellers pretending they are interchangeables.

I'm not in guessing or gambling.
Really need to find out discrepancies..

They might have managed engine weaknesses in between.
Or what if ECU doesn't acknowledge discrepancies ?

Perhaps a change in supplier for the crank then, or a minor change to the bearing journal sizes? (They did the latter on the 2.7 lion V6's IIRC, meaning the cranks cant be swapped between blocks of the two types, but the complete engines are fully interchangeable between vehicles)

Time was when you could ring Citroen Slough and speak to a tech person to ask them things like this (I had a long discussion with them about differences in clutches for CX Turbo 1's and 2's back in the day) but unfortunately that's no longer an option - can't get a tech person on the phone and if you contact their customer service team about anything other than a current model, they just give a stock response that they no longer support the vehicle.
