Are we talking XUD's??? If so - make sure the air filter is clean. Change the oil and filter. Put 'City' diesel in the tank with an additive such as Millar's Dieselclean, Diesel Redex, but my 'friendly' MOT man advises Fortes. Take the car for a 'thrashing' prior to MOT, and arrive with an engine up to temperature. But the examiner shouldn't start till the temperature's right.
