Hello gentlemen.
I’ve been faced with a very expensive repair on my 508 hybrid. Apparently, it was caused by a leaking valve cover. Oil from the leak has dissolved a drive belt, which then got wrapped around pulleys and tensioners, causing extensive damage to these components.
Is it correct to assume that crankcase ventilation takes place via a valve in the valve cover, and that this valve could be blocked, causing oil to be forced out through the gasket on the valve cover?

That is a reasonable assumption John but it is an assumption!! Have a look at this and it will clarify the purpose of the PCV valve and give you a better understanding of what may be happening: https://www.ancel.com/blogs/news/pcv-va ... replace-it
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Would you by any chance know the torque for fastening the rocker cover?
