Radiator/engine under-tray

Unread post by NickCUK »

Am I supposed to have some sort of radiator under-tray or sump guard under the engine on my 2006 307 petrol 1.6 16v? If so anyone know the part number for it.

No evidence that there has ever been anything but it just looks hollow under there like some sort of under tray might be missing. Were these ever fitted to UK spec cars or do they all have it missing.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Yes but does that need a radiator undertray in front of it as well?

However that is only for pre-facelist cars, no idea if it will fit a facelift (2006 onward) car.

Undertrays were frequently fitted to Diesel engine cars, but not so often to petrol engines. I believe that this was because it was more difficult to get diesel engines to pass drive-by noise level tests. I don't know if your particular car had one from the factory, but I would not be surprised if it didn't.

Judging by that it looks like I should have both under radiator cover and under engine cover.

Back in my day, most of the 307’s I worked on the under shield was either missing or about to fall off.
They were two part shields, one right at the front under the rad’. The other under the engine and box, with clips to the subframe and the wheel arch liners. Very important that they are fitted with new clips and fittings, especially where they attach to the wheel arch liners.
Mind you those fittings were stupid flimsy things. I used to replace them with strong cable ties.
