2016 G4P steering locks up randomly. Help please?

Can anyone help? Bought a 2016 C4 GP MK2 1.6 Bluehdi Exclusive a couple of months ago. No problems whatsoever... Until a couple of days ago! Reversing onto my drive and without reason the steering locked up. Didn't see that coming. So i shut it down and re-started the engine, and all was well. I thought it might be just a glitch but it's done it three times since. Fortunately always at low speed and manouvering. Don't know if it's relevant but every time it's happened Iv'e been using plenty of steering (Was going to say plenty of lock but it just didn't sound right bearing in mind the fault).

Has anyone experienced this and possibly offer a solution? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

When you say locked up you mean the power assistance disappeared? You don't mean that the column lock engaged itself surely?

The steering lock came on, exactly the same as when you switch off and the steering lock engages. That's what's odd about it. I can't tell if the power steering was working or not as the steering was completely locked up. Never come across this before...

Do you have a contactless key or a traditional one with a blade?

It's the contactless key with button start/stop.
