Hope someone might have met this before.
When headlights are on, one suddenly goes off.
Wipers may also refuse to operate.
BCM has been swopped and program copied across.
Now been suggested that the headlights should be hard wired outside of the BCM control!? Ditto the wipers.
Has anyone done this before, did the BCM play up gain and possibly go sulky as it isnt seeing the right conditions??
Grateful for advice as I'm getting fed up with it!
Mike

This post on another forum may give you some clues about the wipers and if you look around that forum you may find some headlight info too.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Thanks for the suggestion.
The wiper motor has been replaced already but the suggestion that the problem may be water ingress in the plug area is a possibility.

Has someone jump started the van & used the wiper motor bracket as an earth?

Im not so sure that hard wiring the lights & wipers seems like a good idea to me. I think i would rather find & fix the fault properly. Have you had all the connections off the under bonnet fuse box to check for water ingress?
Did both faults start happening at the same time?

Re: Boxer 3 BCModule
The history is a bit patchy.
Previous owner apparently "has no knowledge of these problems" but due to the amount of welding required, I feel water- salt or fresh! has played a part underneath. Have made a note to double check for all earth connections, especially the main battery earth bond.
Odd thing is that although its badged as Peugeot, the BCM on the back of the drivers fusebox is Fiat. A New BCM is not available at all.
It has been changed from a spare from a Breakers, swopped and reprogammed and the engine refused to start (immobiliser Key not registering) so its been swopped back and we now have the original faults. (Been told the module itself cannot be repaired)
I'm working on the basis that the computer controls mosfets or similar to actually do the work and they perhaps get hot and switch off- just a theory but its all I can think of.
I would much rather get to the bottom of the faults but with ltd knowledge, it just makes me long for the days when all it took was spanners to fix anything!
Seems a dreadful waste to scrap good vehicles due to junk electrical problems
Thanks for reading this

The van is just a Fiat ducato with Peugeot badges, the Peugeot badges are the only thing Peugeot about it.
You could try copying the EEPROM data from the original BSI to the ‘new’ one.
