1.5 BlueHDi 7 to 8mm timing chain upgrade, help please!

Unread post by +CS+ »

Hi, can anyone advise OEM part numbers for the 1.5 BlueHDi (DV5) engine 7mm to 8mm upgrade? Perhaps you have it listed on an invoice?

(I have a 2019 Peugeot 5008 but the 1.5 BlueHDi engine is apparently the same in 208, 2008, 308, 3008, Partner/Rifter and many other Stellantis cars too)

My local Peugeot dealer has quoted but they're so slow and I want to get it done quickly (and ideally a little cheaper too). However my preferred independent garage contacted Peugeot and was told there was only a 7mm chain and so is currently unable to get hold of the necessary parts. Hence I'm trying to find the part numbers myself.

For the record, Peugeot have declined the warranty claim despite full dealer service history due to some late servicing by the previous owner :( . Has anyone managed to get them to contribute something in this case? A rattle has been identified by Peugeot garage.

Thanks very much
Chris

Hi Chris,
Unfortunately the forum has currently lost our access to the Stellantis databases so we cannot provide part numbers at the moment. However there are members with their own access and hopefully one of them will read your post and help you out. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

This attachment lists all the parts needed to replace a 7 mm chain with an 8 mm chain:

Thanks very much mickthemaverick and Mihael_M. That link is really helpful.

But the reference to a few grand of parts makes me question if the £1250 estimate they have me was just to replace the 7mm chain with another 7mm. Or perhaps it was to do at the same time as replacing my fuel injectors. (Thats another AdBlue story! I don't think I'll be buying another PSA car again tbh.)

If the late servicing was in 2020 that was allowed due to the covid lock downs so something to check. Our 308 2020 service was late due to this.

Thanks PaulC5. Sadly it wasn't due to covid. The first hit was 15 months between 2020 and 2021 (despite only 6.5k miles) and the second 22.7k miles (2.7k over) between 2022 and 2023 (364 days).

Reading around it seems they are quite strict with it. They are saying to us 1 month / 1k miles grace only.

I'd be happy with 50% contribution. Does anyone know if any legal action has been attempted?
