Hi to all
Just joined and first post..hope someone can help.
I have a citroen c3 picasso 2011 navigation version.
All is factory fitted but have a weird fault.
Radio sometimes does not turn off with the ignition or the power button..Satnav screen dosent display and the audio plays.
Only way of turning off is to disconnect the battery and re connect..
Thought it was down to heat as it has only started within the last 2 to 3 weeks in the UK as its been hot but only 21 deg today and I have had to reset battery again.
Nothing has been added or removed from the car or wiring.
Any helps will be mutch appreciated

Re: Radio won't turn off
That sounds like the Bsi has got its knickers in a twist so try a Bsi reset following the procedure in the link below and then see how it behaves:

Re: Radio won't turn off
If you've found that disconnecting the battery fixes the fault for a while then you're already essentially doing a BSI reset. As it comes back after a while it sounds as though the battery might be staggering on past its best. Any idea how old it is? And, difficult to answer, whether it's the correct type?

Re: Radio won't turn off
The radio has 2 power supplies, one is permanently live, the other is switched by the BSI when with the key and deactivated with economy mode.
It seems that the BSI is not switching it correctly, which could be a hardware fault in the BSI.
A diagnostics session with diagbox may find a fault.

Re: Radio won't turn off
Update.
Changed battery for a 1 month old one and fault seems to have disappeared (at the moment)
Old battery was marked as 2021 so 4 years old
Let's see if that works

Re: Radio won't turn off
And the result is..........made no difference
Also it turns on by itself and resets back to factory settings.
Opened the door and audio is playing quietly but no display

Re: Radio won't turn off
Then it looks like you have a fault in the BSI and the next move must be the diagbox diagnosis as suggested above.

Re: Radio won't turn off
If the fault is the pos or ign to the radio could I just rewire and give it a pos straight from the battery and ign straight from the barrel

Re: Radio won't turn off
You could try but when you say straight from the battery, you do mean via a fuse I trust?

Re: Radio won't turn off
If there truly is nothing else wrong then that's a possibility. But make sure that you put a fuse in each of the leads. Also, don't literally take the switched supply off the back of the barrel. Use the fusebox. The barrel isn't made to carry current in modern cars.
I did something similar in concept a few years when I wired in a switched, fused supply to the fuel pump in our 2001 Xsara when I couldn't find out exactly where the fault with the standard 12v supply was. It was still working when I sold the car five years later.
It's not a recommended repair though!

Re: Radio won't turn off
Right...
12v is straight to the battery and yes a 5 amp fuse is fitted.
Ignition is via the fuse box that feeds the cigar socket with a 1 amp fuse
Let's see if that works
Thanks for all the info and response
Will keep you informed
