C5 X7 problem with aircon

Unread post by silvering »

Hi guys

As the title suggest, aircon not working. The backstory: last summer i loaded r134a cause i drived around in Turkey a lot. The shop told me i have a leak from the conde ser, but i dismissed it cause i dis not used the aircon often. This summer im in Sweden and i need it, hence i changed the condenser and refilled the system. Unfortunetly its not working. I did the vacuum test, no leaks. When i activate the AC, i can clearly hear the compressor pulley clicking, but the fans are not engaging and no cold air. I have tested the fans on active test with diagnostic tool and they are working both on low and high speed. I have no error codes stores regarding the fans, however i have the following one in the BSI section and in the Engine wiring housing section:

C995 Engine fuse box: fault in A/C compressor variable capacity piloting control circuit

Now, i have read extensively on the subject in the past couple of hours and i have advised myself with some very good X7 technicians in my home country. According to them its either the solenoid on the compressor (as i stated i hear the pulley clicking) or the BSM.

In Friday this week i have to leave Sweden for Bulgaria with the car, and now im a little bit concerned, cause i think its the BSM. Its 2000 km trip and im sinking slowly into the paranoia of ”if the bsm dies on the way home, im f*cked”.

So im writing this with hope for a proper advice. If its the BSM, whats the procedure of changing it, how to look for new one (second hand one), what numbers should i look for, etc .

Im leaving my VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

I'm not in a position to advise the best course of action to repair the car, but having read your post I understand your dilemma. It may be a better plan to borrow or hire a car for your trip so you can travel with a peaceful mind rather than continuously worrying about what might happen!! :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!
