M59 Berlingo AC PAG Oil Quantities

Hi all!

My first post on this forum here as I can't find an answer to an issue I'm facing.
In short, my M59 Berlingo has a broken condenser ever since I got it about 4 years ago, I finally decided to fix it and currently waiting for the new condenser. My issue is, I cannot find how much compressor oil should I add to the system after replacing the condenser and it being filled with air for a handful of years? Citroen workshop manual does not provide anything in terms of compressor oil quantities after a component replacement (or the nominal capacity for that matter)
Should I just drain the compressor and fill it up with fresh oil, close to the nominal capacity? A full system flush seems overkill as the compressor should be alright, it hasn't worked hard for years after all.

Any tips are highly appreciated!

This video includes a chart giving a guide of how much oil is held in each AC component and it suggests 10% of system capacity is in the condenser, just need to know the capacity to get an idea how much to fill.

If the compressor has not run for 4 years its seals might have dried out and leak. However, this will be checked when a vacuum/pressure test is done as part of the regassing procedures. If it does not maintain vacuum the air con company might not be allowed legally to put refrigerant in. They also should know how much oil to put in so you would not need to worry about it.

You might need to replace the drier if the air con system has had no pressure for the 4 years due to leaking since air and moisture will have got in to the system.

You might find a sticker under the bonnet such as on the front panel giving the refrigerant type and oil quantity.

Thanks! That's the information I was looking for. If i read correctly it's best to drain the compressor as well when replacing a component?

Thanks. No sticker to be found however. I know how much refrigerant and what type is needed and how much compressor oil. The leak checking I'm doing myself with nitrogen, I got the equipment for that. Once the system is fully ready I know someone with the required license who can fill it up with refrigerant, will cost me a quarter of taking it to a workshop and having it done there.
And the new condenser comes with a new dryer and o rings so that's already sorted. Going to replave the most of the other o rings as well.

I think the most important is to do a longer vacuunm pump session to boil out all of the moisture out of the system.

Of course pressure test before that.

I usually put in 20-30ml oil inc 10mil dye oil for a failed condenser

So a quick update on how things are going. Took out the old condenser albeit with one of the ports snapped off. Nothing I tried got it loose, it's like the aluminium merged together, maybe because of heavy oxidation?

So now I need to either repair or get new freon tubing... At this point I think I can just add close to the rated amount of PAG oil? I also emptied the compressor and barely any came out (unless I missed a drain plug)
