Nearside front wing mirror

Unread post by Gambit »

Something has gone wrong withthe nearside front wing mirror.

The heater works, the indicator repeater works, it will alter position from the driver side and passenger side controls.

It wont close inwards when the vehicle is locked unless its in the wrong position ie feels like location ident is in wrong place, if I leave it manually where it displays a usefull picture it stays there and does not move when vehicle locked/opened.

Replacement cost is prohibitive especially as it will come plain and need spraying to match car.

I know you can buy glass if you break it but are there any other bits that can be replaced, preferably without having to take it off the door.

Possibly worth doing a BSI reset before you dig any deeper, I posted the link to a guide on another thread earlier: viewtopic.php?p=843863#p843863
Try that first and see if it makes any difference. :)

I've had this issue with my electric sliding doors and wing mirrors. I've found a full disconnect of the battery sorts the problem as everything starts from the new reset position.

Have you tried closing the mirror by hand and then locking/unlocking the doors ? Our 308 left mirror one day did not move when it should and using the switch did not move it. It may have been knocked out of position but moving it manually was enough to get it going again.
