Hello,
In 2019, I bought a new Peugeot 5008 (at Stellantis, Croydon). I loved it. It looks great and it is very nice to drive. I adore the small steering wheel and also the dashboard. There is so much space inside, the seats at the back are very easy to fold. I thought I had made a wonderful purchase. But how wrong I was!
- A few months after the purchase, the boot wouldn't close. I had to bring it back to Stellantis to have it fixed (still under warranty, fortunatley). I thought it could happen to the best cars...
- Two years later, the car wouldn't go into first gear correctly. It was a problem with the synchroniser. Still under warranty. I began to worry...
- Another year later, the car (now 3 1/2 years old) stopped on the motorway. It was the ENGINE. It had FAILED. Possibly linked to the oil pump. My dealer (Stellantis Croydon) was unable to help, and couldn't offer me an appointment for months (they were busy!). Same with most other London dealers. Only the wonderful Wembley Motors (across London) stepped in. Peugeot agreed (with no questions asked, strangely) to replace the engine for free, although the car was out of warranty by then. I was regretting having bought a Peugeot by then.
- Four months ago, my car failed the MOT due to a faulty seatbelt buckle. Stellantis Croydon did not have the part - nor did any Peugeot dear in the UK. I couldn't drive the car for the following two months. Then the part arrived, but it was the wrong part. At that point I was given a courtesy car, but two months later, the seatbelt had not been fixed yet. (In the end, I decided to bring the car to Wembley Motors, who fixed the issue by removing a small bit of plastic from the buckle housing).
Am I the only unlucky person in the UK with such abysmal experience with a Peugeot car? From small problems, all the way to engine failure; dealers unable to deal with emergencies for months, parts unavailable for months, incompetent Peugeot dealers... And Customer Care totally unhelpful. Why would one ever buy another Peugeot?
Please let me know if I have been simply very unfortunate, or if others have also had similar negative experiences.
Many thanks!

Welcome to the FCF!! This forum exists because people have had similar problems as you but maybe not so many with one car. Sounds like you have a 'Friday afternoon car' as we used to say!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Hi what model was your 5008? I bought a 2019 5008 1.5 bluehdi and I’m worried about the cam chain problem. Is that what you had?
I know few days ago Stellantis have issued a media statement on those problem. What was asked in terms of document of maintenance?
