Will I get any problems changing the fluid because of the ABS system seeing the "open branch" when bleeding.
Im ok at changing fluid on single pipe single cylinder systems but am wary of the ABS system on modern vehicles as in theory if it sees and open pipe ie a bleed nipple open it should shut it off and the diagonal oposite clyinder to ensure the vehicle pulls up straight.
Any guidance gratefully accepeted and read
Pete

You will probably need Diagbox or a decent high-end code reader to put the ABS block into the correct mode for bleeding the brakes. I believe that the procedure is a guided one.

Is there anything we can do without a DiagBox or highend reader! Its a wonder we dont need one to pump the tyres up or fuel in . So frustrating.

I changed the brake fluid on a Peugeot 406 and Renault Megane and I didn't need a diagbox. But I didn't drain all the fluid at once, but gradually on one wheel until the clear fluid started. And I always poured it , so it wouldn't be empty.

I don't know about the Megane but a 406 has a relatively old system which might have been tolerant of simple bleeding procedures.

Probably exposing my ignorance of modern car ABS systems here but could you disconnect the battery, bleed the brakes and then reconnect using the BSi reset procedure?

You can change the brake fluid in the usual ways without needing the diagnostic tool. This is only needed if you have air in the system so the abs pump needs to be run. When a dealer replaces the fluid during a service they do not charge for a diagnostic, only if you specify it to get air out and then they charge a lot more. Remember to also bleed the clutch at the same time (best done using a vacuum pump such as Mityvac) but be careful to keep the reservoir level high since the clutch outlet is high up.
I have changed the brake fluid a few times on our Cactus and suspect it will be similar to the C3 since they are very similar underneath, at least our 2010 C3 and 2016 Cactus are.
