Citroen C2 QoL Upgrades

Unread post by raz3n »

Hello, it's been 1.5 year since I purchased my C2 and closing one year since I redid the head gasket and I couldn't be more happy with it being my first car.
But I'm always thinking about a few upgrades that I have seen on other C2(Other factory configurations of course).
So, I would like to how easy/how far I have to go for those upgrades.
The local dealership said that they will not take that kind of work(!) and gave no other options.
Things I would like to upgrade:

1- Make passenger window automatic like drivers.(I drive a car with the steering wheel on the left if that matters)
2- Swap Manual A/C With Climate Control A/C.
3- Install Automatic lights/sensor.

Could those things need an ECU swap or just some spare parts and maybe to enable some things in lexia?
Thank you

Edit: Forgot My VIN VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

1. I would guess a new window motor (from a RHD model) & new one touch switch.

2. I would think this would be a big job, probably need a replacement heater box from a model with auto A/C along + wiring harness and with the panel itself. Would be a very labour intensive job too requiring a full dashboard removal.

3. You would need a new windscreen fitted from a model with sensors. I believe there are also aftermarket options for this though.

Τhank you for your reply.
As far as my knowledge let me undestood :

1. I'm not sure if a different motor needed or just some type of end stop to be added along with a one touch switch.

2. Afaik the heater box is the same on all models, the panel itself is very easy to found out and swap. What I don't know is if there are more sensors, the place that they need to be installed and then comes the ECU question.

3. I know that in this case the sensor is attached to the windshield in the back of the mirror, but that makes it unremovable?
I thought that installing a sensor box on the back of the mirror would be the easiest thing, do I have got that wrong?

Thanks again.

1. The one touch motors have different part numbers to the normal ones & i think they may have 2 extra wire if i remember correctly.

2. The manual A/C again if i remember right has mechanical cables to control temperature & air direction whereas the auto A/C has little mixer motors. has totally different part numbers

3. The sensor itself will be removable but not the bracket on the windscreen that it fits into.

Yes, the "auto" part of the window motor is part of the motor, not the switch. So you would need the switch, motor...and wiring.

The "auto" air con is actually not that hard. You would need the loom that's on the air distribution box, the three servos, the electronic speed controller and the control panel. Some cars have a manual air source (inside outside) cable and some have a servo. If YOUR car has a push button for the air source selector, you wont need the 3rd servo. If you are getting parts from the breakers you need to source them from a car with the same instrument cluster and interior as yours. There are major and minor changes to the electronics over the years.
The 2 big snags with the auto air con is 1) the type of connector between the BSI dash loom and the aircon loom and 2) the type of auto controller. One is CAN BUS and the other is VAN BUS. You must get it right.

The rain sensor would be a right royal pain!!! The sensor has a "Jelly-like" pad that sandwiches between the sensor and the windscreen. If you don't get it right AND you don't do an alignment...it won't work!!! Don't ask me how to do the alignment! I tried but could not decipher the froglish instructions and gave up!

Hey Ozvtr, thank you also for your reply.
In the meantime I found a topic(about c3 if I recall right) where you had put some pictures of the whole system, how cool is that :P

Okay so I'm forgeting the rain/auto lights sensor. Honestly It was the last thing I would do so no big deal.

I don't have any standard dealer which I get parts, probably for the window motor I would try to get one from cyprus(RHD) since I could get it shipped for cheap and without any taxes/customs.
About the "Auto" air con, my idea was to identify exactly which parts I need( Along with their SKU) and try to source them from breakers, cars before destruction etc.
Is actually possible to identify each one along with their codes?
I have the push button for the source selector like this one
Spoiler: show
Image
For switches and mini stuff I would just get them online.

P.S. A guy online said that has citroen service box access and told me that He can sent me the schematics from my VIN, but he can't sent me the schematics from an auto air con because he doesn't know any VIN for it.
Could those be any help?

I Can only source the PSA (Citroen) numbers. Unfortunately they are not the manufacturers numbers that are actually on the parts.

Then that's one less servo that you will need to get

Here is what I can scrounge up.
Acon2.jpg
Items 8085 and 8045 are one item, the electronic speed controller for the interior blower fan.
Item 8025 is the control panel.
Items 8065, 8070, 8071 are the air direction and temperature servos.
Item 8030 is the interior temperature sniffer.
Missing from the circuit diagram is the outside temperature sensor. The car must have an outside air temperature indication on the central display for the auto AC to work.

Woah, thanks a lot for your input and your effort.
Maybe a few of the part guys I have talked can Identify all those things.

About the outside temperature sensor, I'm pretty sure that my left mirror has a small bump on the down side which I always thought It has this sensor, haven't dissasembled to check if it's actually a sensor or a dummy bump.
Edit 2: Just now saw that you said on the central display, gonna check what is this sensor and update :P
Edit 3: I'm dumb enough to not get that you probably mean the sensor of the second to last picture.

So, As I undestand ( and of course once again I could be totally wrong), A full dashboard removal isn't required as I look at most of the places Are accessible through the glove box or the plastic parts from the steering wheel place?
