Title: RT6 black screen after firmware corruption – trying to restore, not upgrade
Message:
Hi everyone,
I have a Peugeot 3008 (year: 2013) with an RT6 head unit. A few days ago, it suddenly stopped working — the screen stays black (but it still rises), and the CD drive makes mechanical noises every 20–30 seconds.
I did not try to update the firmware myself — this happened spontaneously, probably due to a system failure or internal error.
I’m trying to restore the original working state, not upgrade the firmware.
What I’ve tried so far:
Used firmware 2.21, which should match the year of my car — but I get “CRC ERROR on media”
Also tried 2.31, 2.80, 2.86.B1 — same issue or just black screen and CD drive noise
Used a USB stick formatted to FAT32, tried different USBs and different formatting methods
Made sure the archive was fully extracted, placed files in the root of the USB (not in a folder)
I have not burned an ISO to a CD — only used USB so far
Sometimes I see on screen:
vbnet
Копировать
Редактировать
CRC Media Checking...
CRC ERROR on media...
Product restart in 3... 2... 1...
...but most of the time, the screen stays fully black.
My VIN: VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
What I need:
To restore the RT6 system to a working state — not update it
Confirmation of the correct firmware version for my specific unit
To understand why CRC errors appear, even if the USB is properly prepared
Any advice on using MiraScripts, even when the screen is not working
Questions:
What’s the best firmware version to restore RT6 on my VIN?
Can MiraScripts help if the screen is black?
Could this be caused by internal SD card failure or other hardware damage?
Should I now try burning ISO to a CD instead?
Thanks a lot for any help or ideas!

The CRC error on media suggests that the USB stick is either corrupt or wrongly formatted, ie a mismatch between what the USB has and what the CPU expects it to have. It may be a faulty USB jack or wiring inside the RT6. If you have a CD drive connected in your car then I'd try burning your firmware onto that. I can't offer any advice about which software you should load I'm afraid but hopefully someone else will pick this up and advise you. Good luck
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

From the symptoms, I suspect that the microSD card in the unit has been faulty. I have replaced mine last several years ago for my 2014 3008 RT6. I can’t find the firmware, but there are instructions in this forum on how to replace the microSD for RT6.
