Weird A/C Problems on My C4 Picasso

Unread post by Steguit »

Hello everyone, how are you?
I hope you are well.

I am writing to you about several problems I have with the dual-zone climate control on my 2007 C4 Picasso.
For some time I had the problem that hot air was always coming out of the passenger side (a known problem in these cars caused by the flaps that break).
So I decided to disassemble everything, and strangely the flaps are fine.
So I continue to investigate by disassembling the actuator, and to turn, obviously by hand, it seems very hard.

1) First, I move the flaps towards the cold side, and reassemble the actuator, but I notice that as soon as I turn the car on, it returns to the hot side.

2) So I decide to open the flap towards the cold side and assemble the actuator without connecting the plug.
From that moment on I have the opposite problem: from the passenger side only cold air came out, while from the driver side only hot air (obviously by changing the temperatures from the panel nothing happened, either from the driver or the passenger).

3) I disassemble everything, block the flaps with a cable tie, connect the actuator plug, but block it with a cable tie on another side, and the problem seems to be "solved", but as soon as I increase the temperature on the driver's side (because obviously nothing happens on the passenger side), the fan on that side (I repeat, only on that side) loses speed until I reach maximum temperature.

My question is the following, in your opinion is it worth buying an actuator and trying to replace it (even if mine, while I start the car, to bring the flaps back to the hot side works) or is there an electronic problem that is not worth solving?

P.S. I did not check with the multimeter because I do not have any electrical diagram.

Thanks to all who will answer me
Greetings from Italy and have a nice day.

I would suggest that whether it is worth replacing depends on the age and mileage of the car. If it has less than 80k KM I'd be tempted to replace it but if more than that I think I'd live with it. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!
