Hello everyone,
Please can I seek your combined advice regarding a persistent fault I'm having with 2005 C5 mk2 2.0 HDi (138).
So, from the moment I’ve owned the car it’s had a fault with the fuel level sensor, in that the gauge won’t register when I’ve put more fuel in and the trip meter won’t show how many miles ‘remaining’.
I purchased a brand new Bosch fuel sender unit and fitted it myself. I have since continued to have the same fault, despite removing the battery, doing the BSI reset etc. I managed to get it working once or twice but the fault keeps coming whereby I’ll put a full tank of fuel in and it still won’t register the correct amount on the gauge.
I also have an EML light on the dash and my cheap generic OBD reader shows error P0461 (fuel level sensor A circuit range / performance). This fault also comes up alongside P0470, P1434 and P1351.
Overall the car drives very well and has no apparent issues but this is beginning to drive me insane !

Re: Bizarre C5 mk2 issues
Maybe there is a wiring or connector fault on the fuel level sensor. Plugging the wiring into the old one without refitting it in the tank might help to check the level sensor.
Some info on P1434 and may be a problem with the eolys system viewtopic.php?t=65736
Some info on P0470 (exhaust back pressure) and P1351 (this can be ignored) viewtopic.php?t=45596
So it looks as if you are having problems with the dpf system which will put the eml on and will need fixing for the next MOT.
