Reving at 1250 RPM at Idle

Unread post by PeteK82 »

Hello,

I have a 2013 Peugeot Expert 2.0 hdi Tepee that has started to idle at about 1250 rpm, but if I press the brake pedal, the revs drop back to normal. Also if I switch the engine off for a minute or 2 it seems to reset itself. Sometimes I can drive for about half an hour before it starts doing it again or sometimes it will only go for 10 minutes before it starts doing it again.

I can't see any beake vacuum leaks- it's only a short pipe from the servo to the side of the head.

My code reader is suggesting P0266 - cylinder 2 contribution balance.

Anyone else had anything similar and managed to resolve it?

Thanks

Pete

1200 rpm / idle when brake is the default strategy if the there is an issue with the throttle pedal. Surprised there isn't a code for it. It could be a wire problem, but if restart fixes it, seems more likely it's the pedal.

If you have no codes showing, Try disconnecting MAF sensor and running engine. I recently had a 2.0 hdi Volvo in workshop with a similar fault and code showing throttle position sensor on pedal. Fitted a new sensor and code still there, fitted a MAF and code went away..... Did my head in for a while...

I wonder if the code P0266 has anything to do with it?

I'll try what you mentioned on the throttle position maf sensor. Is there any easy way to test the throttle position sensor? Thanks

Just had another look when it starts doing it the TP shows as 85.9% in live data.

A restart only seems to cure it once it's cooled down. But seems to do it after 5-10 mins of being driven.

Once it settles after a restart the TP reads as around 33%. Despite reving it won't pass 85.9%
