Afternoon
I have a 2010 C4 Grand Picasso with the 1.6 HDI 5 Speed gearbox. The clutch failed last week, and stuck in gear (the wife cannot remember which one). Anyway the garage has repaired the clutch, pressure plate and cylinder and all is working fine, bar 4th gear. It does not even make a grinding noise when trying to engage, just does nothing, even when increasing the revs.
Aware the internals of the gearbox maybe FUBAR, but could anything else cause this (gear linkage for example?)

Possibly linkage but I'd say that 4th gear has given up altogether, looks like a recon gearbox might be your only solution, if you do try the linkage route get one with a warranty and or receipt then if that don't make any difference get your money back.

Re: Clutch Failure, now no 4th Gear
I would say that there is a problem with the 4th gear synchroniser/baulk ring. It would need a complete stripdown of the gearbox to fix, so a second hand or recon gearbox is probably a better option.

Thanks both. I have a Peugeot 3008 with a dead engine but it's 6 speed. I imagine a swap isn't possible?

Not sure , if the drive shafts fit it will be ok , but it's ratio problem, im not to clever at putting the words down in my head but if the cogs inside the box are different sizes from a 5 speed then your notice the van will feel sluggish. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks all. It appears the gearbox drain plug is leaking. Does anyone know the torque?
And what the part number is should it need replacing?

Re: Clutch Failure, now no 4th Gear
In the Haynes manual for the C4 2004 to 2010 it gives the drain plug torque as 33 or 35 Nm for the 3 different gear boxes. No idea of the part number, you might need to get that from a Citroen dealer when you go to them for the plug.
