Proace Verso 2018 (same as Peugeot Traveller etc) rear right ABS ring issue

Unread post by Mr Fusion »

Hi All

Started getting ABS faults which I put down to the sensor, so swapped both rears out.

This didn't fix the issue and on closer inspection it has a damaged ABS ring on the right side (image attached)

From research this is part of the wheel bearing - is there are way to replace just the ring from behind the bearing - I have looked at either getting a new bearing with ring attached (but believe this needs an expensive bearing tool to remove / fit) or buying a whole lower arm and hub 2nd hand from ebay and fitting that (which seems overkill, although this can be bought for around £90 with postage).

Any hints or tips to get this done easily as MOT is due next month.

Cheers, Ben

There's no way to repair that other than change the bearing. Oddly, I happened on a YT vid the other day about these, and a tool to change them as they are apparently a nightmare to do.

I think I saw the same video using this tool https://www.lasertools.co.uk/Product/83 ... -Opel-Vans which is a ridiculous price unless you are changing them every day.

I think I will just have to buy the 2nd hand lower arm as a complete unit and swap it out - I think it can be done without disconnecting the brake calliper and just disconnect the handbrake cable and hanging everything out of the way (compress spring, unbolt everything, fit new one and swap the old calliper onto "new" hub).

Have bought the whole lower arm and hub assembly as seems the easiest option that I can (hopefully) do myself. Will see how I get on.
