Have I done a dumb thing?

Unread post by jehuxtable »

Just picked up a 16 plate C3 Picasso BlueHDi and am a tad worried.
It has very low mileage and only two owners since new.
It ticks a lot of boxes for us but I’m a bit nervous about the turbo in particular. All that said, it has a three-month warranty that includes many turbo components, so maybe I just take it somewhere for a diagnosis and then a warranty repair if needed…

Welcome along!!

There's really very little to worry about engine wise on these - keep the oil changed and it will be OK. It does need a cambelt change in good time, on a 16 plate, even at low miles, I would be thinking about getting it done as insurance. The thermostats can leak, and are not that cheap to change - if new / under warranty worth a check that it is not leaking. It's on the end of the head above the gear box - you can get your hand in under the air pipes and feel the bottom of the housing, needs changing if it's wet. The real issue is the ad blue system, they can fail, and then cost ££ to put right...

Thank you kindly.
I’ll give the thermostat a feel!

No. Only the 1.2 petrol engine. You have the 1.6 BlueHDi which has a dry belt.
