Peugeot 508 AC expansion valve

Unread post by mariuszk »

Hello guys
I can not find any topics or advices around AC expansion valve.
Has anybody dealt with expansion valve replacement?
Do you have any manuals?
My car is Peugeot 508 2.0hdi 163hp from 2012
Thank you in advance

Expansion valves are, in general, very reliable. They cant be repaired, and so, if there is a problem, must be replaced.
Typically the expansion valve is on the cabin side of the fire wall and may require removal of the entire dash board to replace it! So you would need to be very sure the Tx valve is your problem.
There is a topic on the index page labeled "french air conditioning". You could perhaps search in there too?
If you are having AC problems the last thing you should look at is the Tx valve, for obvious reasons.
Have you been advised by a "professional" that the Tx valve needs to be replaced?
Or what is the problem?

Hi.
Yes, I searched AC forum too, but no topic for 508.
AC was completely empty so it went for service 2 months ago. I cleaned valve from engine side.
Now again AC stpped working and expansion valve is covered in AC oil. So there is a leak. Either valve is broken or just orings need to be replaced. I just hope dashboard does not have to be remover and 2 screews from cabin side can be reached from pasenger or driver side😀
That's why I am looking for some informatorom.
Thank you

I cant see how the Tx valve would be "broken" and leak on the engine bay side. It might leak from the diaphragm or the plug, but those parts are inside the cabin.
My guess is an o ring failure.

I want to see if tx valve is leaking from inside (cabin) too. That's why I would like to remove it completely.
I just want to avoid situation that tx valve orings will be replaced from engine bay side but there still will be a leak from the other side
