Blower motor not working

Unread post by BoostedFR »

Hello everyone, I am currently stuck with a certain problem i have with my 2005 Citroen C4 VTS. one night my blower motor decided to stop working have been trying to fix this issue for a week straight, i have checked absolutely everything that can cause this problem. My blower motor works completely fine when hooked up to a battery, ive checked the blower motor resistor and all fuses but cant find the problem. My BSM though seems to have been modified as there is a relay that was moved from its hidden state under the top cover to the outside with the images ive provided, im pretty sure this must have something to do with the blower motor since there is a connecting cable coming out of the fuse for the blower motor. Any help, clues or even questions would be very helpful, Thanks.

It's fairly common for the blower motor relay in the BSM to get burnt out contacts. The BSM is potted with silicone RTV and it's virtually impossible to replace the relay. That modification seems like a novel solution!
I cant say if that mod is to by-pass the fan relay or not. Odds are...it is. Although, there seems to be a lot of wires connected to the relay. I would think that you would only need 4.
You could bridge the relay contacts and see if the fan works. It should show you on the side of the relay what contacts are what.

yeah whoever did it they did it really professionally, sufficient power is being passed through the relay but there isnt any output to the blower motor plug/cable. when i first got the problem i opened up the fusebox to see the relay and wires, there was one wire conveniently being routed through where the fuse for the blower motor is supposed to be. That connection was loose and wasnt plugged into the relay, i plugged it in but sadly no luck

So the power for that relay comes from the blower fuse? Then you would assume that contraption IS for the blower power? Have you checked that the relay is working? I.E. the contacts in the relay are closing?

No, that relay hanging out above the bsm has basically just been moved. The wires have been resoldered and are giving power to the relay, do you know which relay is responsible for giving power to the blower motor?

Well, yes but it's very difficult to describe. However, it is in the vicinity of where those wires are coming from for that relay. Which is why I was suspicious of it.
