2019 C5 Aircross 1.6 Puretech Flair Plus - Questions

Unread post by FatmanDaz »

I've had my Aircross for just over 2 weeks, it's a dealer purchased car with just over 33k miles. Of which I've done around 600.
The car was freshly serviced, MOT'd and was given a 'full inspection / check' prior to being sold. The car was originally sold new by the dealer and has a full dealer service history.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the car, it's in great condition and has obviously been well looked after. It came with a pretty comprehensive warranty package, which I intend to renew, for year 2 and beyond.

So, the issues I have and questions to ask:

I noticed almost immediately, that stop/start wasn't functioning. When I come to a stop, the stop/start light on the dash flashes 3 times but the engine continues running. A quick Google tells me this is indicating stop/start is available but not activating, with the most likely issue being insufficient battery capacity. I'm also getting the "economy energy mode" message, which again is an indicator of insufficient battery capacity. A work colleague put his multi-meter on the battery last week and it registered 12.4volts, which I understand to be too little for the stop/start function.

I've also had half a dozen or so instances of a very high-pitched whine, always on cold start and it stops with a dab of the accelerator. I assumed belt whine and considered alternator, which might offer up why I have low battery voltage. However, more googling and an FB Aircross owners group, seems to almost unanimously suggest it is a cylinder cover gasket failure?

Lastly, the cruise control seems to have a mind of its own, in terms of deciding whether to function. Rather than actually operating I get an "activation denied, conditions unsuitable" dash message. Actual conditions seem to have zero bearing , as I 've been getting the message on poker straight, vehicle free sections of road.
What I have noticed, is that after 20-30 minutes of driving, it will decide to work. This has got me thinking, is cruise control one of those functions that gets disabled whilst in 'economy energy mode' until the battery level reaches a suitable point?

Sorry, for the extended waffle. I did try the forum search function but didn't find much that covered my questions. The car is booked in at the dealers on Friday morning and I'm looking to go with as much information as I can. In particular related to the engine whine, as from other peoples experiences, it seems that garages aren't that aware of the engine cover gasket issue.

Thanks, in advance for your comments and feedback.

I'm sorry to see that your queries have gone unanswered up till now but since you have now been to the dealer could you update the thread with the outcome and confirm that your stop/start and cruise control issues were both down to a failing battery? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!
