C5 2.0 HDI Air Mixer System - EGR System Relation

Unread post by bahcekapili »

Hi friends,

I have a 2011 year Citroen C5 2.0 HDI (DW10CTED4) We have 1 air mixer valve and air doser for intake. When system is active i noticed that active regeneration cycle is about 400 - 500 km on standart road and typical usage. As soon as disconnect the air doser position sensor cable from doser first of all EGR position set to 0 (zero) permanently and active regeneration cycle increase up to 1.000 km. For example i drove 150 km with only 0.5 g/l soot. You know active regeneration usually start at 5 g/l soot so that means theoretically active regeneration will start at 1500 km.

What could be the downside of this practice? Let me say one of them cruise control and speed limit function disabled because of engine fault. The second one is when stopping the car it is shaking. Could it be negative for the engine? For example, a mixture of rich and poor. I am not wondering what exactly is the function of the air mixer in these vehicles. I think the connection with EGR is due to the fact that they are connected to each other with a vacuum system. When one is disabled, it affects the other, but I have observed that this interaction is both positive for particle filter regeneration and advantageous in terms of fuel consumption.

It is not recommended to keep the car running with the sensor permanently disconnected. This is a temporary trick that indicates weaknesses in the ECU logic or a dirty/faulty EGR/air doser system. It’s better to:

1.Clean the EGR valve, the air doser, and the throttle body.

2.Check for ECU software updates – some versions perform regenerations more aggressively.

3.If you have a remap or the EGR has been disabled via software, make sure it’s done properly, not through workarounds like unplugging sensors.
This is my opinion Regards :)
