Peugeot 3008 SUV loose rear end

Unread post by thomas_magnum »

Hi, looking for some advice… I have a 3008 GT PureTech 1.2. Stock suspension, new bilstein rear shocks, new bushes, tires are in very good condition, on irregular/ uneven roads the rear end feels loose and wobbly.. I can’t seem to figure if it’s some issue with the suspension or just the way the car drives… it doesn’t seem safe to me.

might be worth to try some eibach pro kit?
Thanks

I'm not familiar with the 3008 but assume it has coil springs at the rear? If so and you have fitted new shocks are you sure that both springs were seated correctly in their bases to ensure they cannot jump when compressed suddenly? :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

😅 That would make sense...but I didn't touch the springs when changing the shocks.. It's a really weird behaviour

Was it like this before you fit the new parts ? If not then possibly the new shock absorbers are not the same as the original Peugeot ones. Same with the new bushes. If this is the case then you might be better off getting parts from a Peugeot dealer, despite them possibly being more expensive - or you could fit the old ones back if there was nothing wrong with them. My experience is that copy parts are often not as good as original ones from a dealer.

I bought the car used. Both shocks were dead and I thought the weird behaviour was from the shocks, ao i replaced them. Then replaced all of the bushes... But still the same...

Are you tyres okay?
I bought a car that had been parked, for probably a long time, on uneven ground and the tread of one of the tyres was deformed, difficult to see unless you really looked.
Suggest you swap front to back, if your steering wheel shakes viola? If not 🤔

Thanks for all the help..
I've swap the front tires to the back... The rear seems better.. the front now seems weird, so I guess the issue was with the tires..But didn't have enough time to test it properly... The tread does seem good.
