Modded map updates possible?
As many of you probably know, the RT4 and RT5 have been abandoned by PSA since 2016. The maps we've got have certainly become a bit long in the tooth sooner than many of the cars themselves. Now, since it's possible to mod maps to an RNEG or NG4 system using map updates from BMW's CIC Premium system, perhaps there might be a way to add more modern maps to our systems as well? RT6 map updates, for instance, surely look awfully similar in file structure to the latest 2016 maps for the RT4/5. In fact, their speed camera updates are all bundled in the same package, of which the latest (unofficial?) release I could find dates from january this year. Has anyone ever tried putting more recent maps onto an RT4 or RT5? Or does anyone know of a satnav system from another manufacturer that might use similar maps?

I did read somewhere (cant think off the top of my head ) some one tried doing what your theorising and it messed up big time so they eneded up having to reinstall the original software, some people have even tried to hack the software to change the voice , but find the software wasn't written like they had experience with , file names not recognised and so on so that idea was dropped , if your maps are fully upto date I guess the only way would be to ask psa dealership or go online and asked about compatability, or updates that can be acquired

I tried burning a cd with RT6 maps in a folder structure similar to RT5 updates, but as expected it wasn't having it. Said something about the update file being corrupt (which I suppose was correct in a way). I might have another go at it by replacing files directly on the SSD, but not any time soon as I blew up the 607's engine last summer
. I thought ES9s never broke down!

Not sure. I was on my way to Slovenia when I suddenly saw a puff of smoke in the mirror on the German Autobahn. I didn't even go that fast. About 100 mph. I had to fill one liter of oil every 60 miles on the way back. I do suspect it might have something to do with the LPG installation, which caused some weird behaviour on the front lambda sensor. The spark plug from cylinder 1 looked a bit iffy and the cylinder wall seems scored, but I'll have another look when I try out my new (and much better) borescope. For now I'll have to work on the Xantias though.
