Hi, I removed the 7 pin towing light system and now when the ignition is on the brake lights are on constantly.
The device removed was a ryder tf2218/7h smart logic, and it was installed using quick splicing connectors. Once undone the wires have been cut, soldered and insulated to seal them back up.
I've reset the bsi a few times but no joy. Is there any other wizardry going on when these are installed? I removed one clip at a time.
I have the rear bumper off at the moment that contains the reversing sensors, I've reconnected but still the same. Admittedly, I haven't reset the bsi after reconnected. Are these really that finicky? Kind regards

Possibly an ignition controlled 12 volt supply to the ryder has been connected by mistake to the brake light wiring.

Got it, when looking for a parasitic draw, some numpty (me) pulled the fuse out of #42 which has a elbow extension wire added to it and didn't put it back in the right slot.
They always say start with the simplest, easiest fixes first. Me also had a few abs codes ping up too, these are now gone! Hate myself sometimes

Well done, it happens to the best of us!! However a general tip for everyone is: If you need to remove a fuse and leave it out to carry out some work, a quick picture of the fusebox before you start will always make sure you restore everything corectly!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Boxer 3 brake lights constantly on
I agree, the problem with me is that I've got a few jobs on the go. I was looking for this draw, then stopped that and jumped into the rear to de-rust, got into taking off the bumper and towbar wiring and then noticed the brake lights stayed on.
This issue was caused by the first job. It's strange that they have added a wire going to the cigarette lighter from the 5a ABS, ASR, ESP and Brake light switch. That lighter socket is corroded, so that's my next port of call to find this parasitic draw, whilst also wondering what's coming from the original cigarette lighter.](./images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif)
