C1406 error

Unread post by ShadowOfDest »

Hi so i have a problem. Since i changed battery 2 months ago i get an error which says "Battery charge fault.Stop the vehicle" i dont always get this error so i couldn't scan it as when i stoped the engine for some time the error dissappeared. Then i managed to scan it and i got error c1406 which is apparently a power steering wheel error. And this evening my wife deactivated the eco and when she drove over 30mph it got reactivated? Checked alternator and charge at 14v all good battery checked all good. I mention that i have changed battery 2 months ago but in this time my front left suspension where all the cables and battery is been broken so i could feel all the bumps and not sure if this could be the cause as i changed and still got the error. What could be the problem?

The C1406 fault code in a Citroën C4 Picasso indicates an issue with the ignition coil A primary/secondary circuit malfunction.
This code is related to the engine's ignition system and can be triggered by problems such as a faulty ignition coil, wiring issues, or a malfunctioning power steering control unit that may overheat.
In some cases, the fault may be linked to an overheating condition in the power steering ECU or motor, which can reduce power steering assistance by up to 60%.
The code may also appear after a battery replacement, especially if the vehicle's electrical system was not properly reset or if there are underlying relay issues affecting power distribution.
It is recommended to perform a diagnostic check using specialized tools like Lexia or Diagbox to accurately identify the root cause, as the fault could stem from various electrical or mechanical components what i found
