Hello,
I’m looking for help to get the steering wheel radio controls working on my 2000 Peugeot 206 GTI (S16, Phase 1).
When I bought the car, it already had an aftermarket radio installed. I don’t know exactly which original radio it came with from the factory, but the service manual includes a Clarion pin code note. Based on that, I believe the original unit was a Clarion RD1 or RB1.
The aftermarket radio was installed without any adapters, so the steering wheel stalk was not functional.
My goal is to restore the factory steering wheel controls and, if possible, reinstall the original radio unit for cosmetic reasons.
I bought a Clarion RD1 unit on eBay and restored the factory wiring. I also managed to read the EEPROM and retrieve the pin code. The unit powers on and works, but the steering controls are still not functioning.
Now I’m stuck and not sure how to proceed with troubleshooting.
Here is some relevant information:
The car is a non-MUX 206 GTI
It has the 6-position steering stalk
The radio is a Clarion PU-2325A(B)
I have access to Lexia, but I couldn’t find any options related to radio configuration
Any advice or guidance on what to check next would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: 206 GTI Radio Stalk
I think you might need to be a paid member, but if you post your VIN code then the admins would be able to pull up your 206 build specification. I think that would likely tell you what audio it originally had.

I also found a small connector in the radio loom, but I’m not sure what its purpose is.

Re: 206 GTI Radio Stalk
According to this diagram, steering controls are connected to the multifunctional display, mine is the most basic one - it only shows date, time and Radio/CD-changer info
Maybe I need to try another display which is 100% compatible with RD1
