Re: Quiet
It sure is, and I daresay less attractive to new members with the lack of the Stellantis account. Let's hope that gets sorted and we can find a new Guru!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

It's not so much that as all our old Citroens are close to end of life, and we don't like the new ones that cost a bloody fortune to fix.mickthemaverick wrote: 07 May 2025, 10:25 It sure is, and I daresay less attractive to new members with the lack of the Stellantis account. Re: Quiet
Agree with this, after 20 years of Citroens I changed our 2007 C5 for a Skoda Octavia wanting another estate with petrol or diesel engine, manual gear box and room for a bike in the boot. We are thinking about replacing the 308SW and might go for a second Skoda. The latest 308 is electric or has the 1.2 Puretech or 1.5 hdi, not the best of engines for reliability and our 308 needs a lot spending on it next week - the touch screen is not working and diagnosed as needing a new radio, also the condenser is leaking and needs replacing plus it needs a service. Overall around £2½k so not happy, wish we had changed it a while ago. I thought our recent high bills had ended after paying for our daughter's wedding in March but no (the wedding was good).Michel wrote: 07 May 2025, 11:17It's not so much that as all our old Citroens are close to end of life, and we don't like the new ones that cost a bloody fortune to fix.mickthemaverick wrote: 07 May 2025, 10:25 It sure is, and I daresay less attractive to new members with the lack of the Stellantis account. Re: Quiet
Depending on the year, the 1.5HDi has had the chain problem sorted in production. Plus some earlier ones that have been converted. The 1.2 Puretech surely can't be far off being fixed permanently with the timing chain conversion fix.

Re: Quiet
I totally agree Mike but I've been Citroen free for four years now yet still relish my time on the forum, mainly in the OTCL admittedly but there are many good discussions and much entertainment to be found there, so I hope others enjoy it as much as I do. Making the effort to get around the country to meet members has enhanced the enjoyment tremendously and I can currently say that the 15 members I have now met and added to my list of friends has made the whole membership so much more fruitful than just getting answers to my car problems ever could!!Michel wrote: 07 May 2025, 11:17It's not so much that as all our old Citroens are close to end of life, and we don't like the new ones that cost a bloody fortune to fix.mickthemaverick wrote: 07 May 2025, 10:25 It sure is, and I daresay less attractive to new members with the lack of the Stellantis account. Re: Quiet
Falcon's gone as well?!?
What's the world coming to? Does likely have a lot to do with the good cars being either classics served on other fora, or near end of life. Our Xantia is languishing in the front garden after I broke the windscreen (a £400+ fix currently!) and has a reoccurence of door jamb rot along with inner sills not to mention the HP14 is getting ever more tired. Even with all that sorted she'd need suspension work, 4 tyres and still be a tatty old 1.9D auto. Can't bring myself to do the sensible thing and break her up, but the 406 is much more practical as a daily & tow rig.
The loss of the Stellantis account is a big blow to the forum as far as newer members go, yes. I remember thinking when Stellantis came to be that this would be a shot in the arm to the forum with other brands coming under the same umbrella but now that's gone I'm not so sure

Re: Quiet
Firstly, yes we all miss the help and advice that Marc has given freely to this forum, and joining with others, I say a big thank you.
However, I think I have seen that someone is selling a chain conversion kit as an aftermarket option, which is good for the cars on the road.

Yes this can't be far off getting permanent fix, but that doesn't help the VERY LARGE number of cars already sold, and not just Stellantis vehicles. There's no way on earth any manufacturer will recall those vehicles and carry out the upgrade.Paul-R wrote: 07 May 2025, 12:43 .......... Re: Quiet
Not extinct, merely sleeping and keeping a watching brief as the 'like' feature on certain posts, including the first on this thread, can confirm. You never know with any luck he may have a change of plans at some point, I hope so!!

Re: Quiet
I'd noticed Neil had been making valiant efforts to drum up more traffic in the OTCL in the months before he left, but only with variable results
Whilst posts and topics may get a healthy amount of views, participation can be patchy - and success or failure is often only gauged on participation
Participation, or lack of it, can be for many reasons - time and energy on the part of the participant, interest and relevance of the postings, or just down to reduced levels of passing traffic, etc, etc
There's not a lot we can do if viewers just (very understandably) haven't got the time or energy to join in - that's just a fact of modern life. It's very subjective as to whether a post is interesting - some you win, some you lose, but hopefully some of our posts are interesting
As for drumming up more passing traffic...... answers on a postcard please

Re: Quiet
The forum seems to pick up a reasonable number of new members naturally, but the participation to helping new members with problems seems a little patchy, so hence perhaps active retention isn't as high as we'd hope. It is quite difficult with such a huge range of cars, for someone to be 'expert' enough to respond on all of them.
What is the latest on the Stellantis servicebox account? Have they said *anything*?

This is about as up to date as it gets, I think. From three weeks ago:

Re: Quiet
Thanks. Ref the account not being transferred over to the new system correctly, it's a good job Stellantis aren't trying to run a business by charging for access to their services or anything, isn't it - one might regard the service as rather poor, otherwise?
