206 gti hdi 1.6 110bhp jerking at 2500rpm

I have a problem that is very irritating, at around 2250rpm upwards mostly 2500rpm the car feels like it's stalling. It's quite a violent jerk as if the brakes have been slammed on for a second. At about 2500rpm in 5th it's doing about 67mph.

It's not the speed as it does it in 4th at about 2500 rpm.

It feels like fuel cut to a degree.

Has anyone had this issue themselves and found a fix?

When was the fuel filter last replaced ?

Only a few day's ago, I thought it may be a blocked fuel filter but it hasn't made a difference
