Multiplex additive pump fault (P1434) and Intersystems CAN failure (U0028)

Unread post by Cal_90 »

Hi, I have a 2015 Peugeot 308 1.6 Hdi a few weeks ago after filling the car up I had the service light pop up on the dash along with the engine management light 😔 following on after the engine management light I then noticed the car had lost power on acceleration. After plugging the car into the OBD port I got multiple Codes (P1434) multiplexed additive pump, (U0028) Intersystems CAN Failure and (B181196) fault on diesel fuel additive pump.I have replaced the additive pump/ reservoir and configured it I have also added the new quantity on Eloyes fluid but the codes won't remove and stay. I am looking around 4 weeks to get into a Peugeot dealership because I have requested a courtesy car but it seems a long time to wait when I need my car. Has anyone else had this problem. Maybe it's not the additive pump and the BSI is faulty and flagging up an unnecessary code Any help would be appreciated.

Not exactly the same, but some similar experience with limp mode. I have P1434 (intermittent) too. I also have P1435 (intermittent) , U1134 (permanent), and U1400 (intermittent) among other presumably unrelated ones. My vehicle is a 2013 Peugeot Partner 2013 1.6 HDi so maybe the same engine?

I recently disconnected my additive tank to fill it. For me, the vehicle only went into limp mode when the tank was completely disconnected. When I plugged the tank back in, I had full power again. It suggests to me that the vehicle will revert to limp mode when it can't communicate with the tank (i.e. the circuit board under the white cover in the tank, in the compartment with the solenoid pump).

I read that the wiring near the additive pump is susceptible to corrosion and damage, does it all look good around there?

Do you have any other fault codes from other ECUs than the ones you listed?

Thanks for the reply mate I managed to fix it myself it turned out to be a bad earth in the engine compartment I cleaned all the corroded earths up and used some electrical paste to stop any future corrosion once I plugged back into the OBD port and put in the additive quantity it finally accepted and completed the communication with the ECU where before it kept saying communication lost. I hope this helps others too as this seems to be a very common fault recently.
