If anyone can shed some insight would be great.
Nemo 09 1.4 diesel. Manual box.
Inner cv was knackered so decided to save the faff I'll just do a whole driveshaft.
Everything came off fine, popped the new shaft in, seated in the box fine. Popped into the hub no bother.
However, If I try to do the nut up, barely past finger tight the whole wheel assembly becomes tight. And every now and again a slight squeal.
I'm baffled by it. Cracked the old nut off with the impact but didn't use it to do it back up. Would a bearing fail just as I go to replace the shaft?
Any help appreciated
Cheers

Re: Driveshaft replacement issues on Nemo
I've just jacked the car up and there appears to be play rotationally front to back in the wheel. I'm guessing the wheel bearing has let go?
Also just drove it slowly off the drive and it makes an awful noise.

I would check that the end of the new driveshaft is the same shape as the old one; sounds like it is pulling up against the back of the hub / non rotating part of the bearing somewhere.

So after some faff. I've replaced the wheel bearing. Put everything back together. There is still play in the same direction, could it be play in the outer splines?RichardW wrote: 22 Apr 2025, 07:53 I would check that the end of the new driveshaft is the same shape as the old one; sounds like it is pulling up against the back of the hub / non rotating part of the bearing somewhere.
