I'm currently planning on changing my driveshaft and I was hoping to change the transmission oil in the process as well. I can't seem to find the right oil for this though. A few people recommend the Total BV 75W80. I've been on the Total website and the recommendation is TotalEnergies TRAXIUM GEAR 8 75W-80. I've also found the Comma EP75W-80 Plus as a recommendation. The car has a 6 gear manual transmission.
Does anyone have access to a manual and can you confirm what oil I need for this VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Would be great if anyone has a diagram of where the oil drain plug is and if there is a level plug or vent. I saw a video that the refill should be done from the engine bay, under the battery. Not really keen on taking the battery out to be fair.
Many thanks!

Re: Citroen DS4 2.0 HDi 165 Gearbox Oil Change
Citroen gear boxes do not usually have a level plug, you have to drain it and then put in the correct amount through somewhere on the top - a hose might help if access is poor or you do not want to remove too much to add the new oil. The drain plug might have a seal that will need replacing and possibly this will need to be from a Citroen/DS dealer.

Re: Citroen DS4 2.0 HDi 165 Gearbox Oil Change
Ok, so I attempted the oil change today. Went and bought the 8mm square socket the realised it wouldn't fit inside the sump plug because of the subframe (thanks Citroen for the clever design!). So I went back to the shop and bought a wrench instead. Still doesn't fit and seems like the only way would be to remove the bolt from the bottom engine mount and pivot the engine to unscrew the sump plug. Other feasible way would be to cut the wrench and engineer a makeshift low profile attachment. What an absolute ball ache, whoever thought of this clever positioning, well I hope they get a special place in hell
That being said, I decided to return the Comma oil and go for the recommended TotalEnergies TRAXIUM GEAR 8. Does anyone know exactly how much oil this gearbox takes? Is it 1.9 or 2.1?
