5th/6th selector fork broken

Unread post by Boyo »

my 2008 2020plate has just been diagnosed with a broken 5th/6th gear selector fork. Should the other forks in the gearbox be replaced at the same time as replacing the broken fork.

That's an unusual failure, on such a recent car I'd be tempted to find a low milage used box and fit that rather than going to the hassle of stripping the box and repairing it.

Unlikely however, that any other forks are damaged - unless a piece broke off and went round the inside of the box!

Thanks for the advise Richard. The local Peugeot garage has now told me that the selector forks now come in one assembly. Peugeot has offered to contribute 50% of the cost. Our 2008 was registered in early 2020 and has 26000 miles on the clock. Peugeot changed the design of the 5th/6th selector fork in October 2020. I think they recognised that there was a problem. The technicians at the garage has told me that the selector fork was broken in half !!!. We are debating going to the Motor Ombudsman to register a complaint with Peugeot.
