C3 2006 com2000 swapping

Unread post by Greguk123 »

Usual wiper/washer gremlins...

Do I have to swap to the same part number or so long as same stalk function will it work?

Also is there anyone on here that repairs them instead?

Thank you! Greg

Not necessarily exactly the same number however it ideally should have the same spec, if your car has ESP you must get one from another car with ESP if it doesent have it you need to get one from a non ESP car. It must also be from another full CAN model (with the facelift front end) so get one from the same year.

In late 2005 the C3's went from a VAN BUS (Vehicle Area Network) to CAN BUS (Controller Area Network) network structure. The COMs units are NOT compatible. The cars are colloquially known as pre-facelift and facelift. Yours will be a facelift car (CAN BUS).
Looking at the COMs units, to tell them apart, look at the date of manufacture and the horn connectors. You are looking for one manufactured after 2005. VAN BUS COMs units have 2 "spade" connectors for the horn. CAN BUS units have a grey connector. The airbag connectors are the same.
The CAN BUS COMs have "pods" on either side for radio controls and cruise control, the VAN BUS units do not. The "flappy padles" are different between CAN and VAN. The auto head light disable/enable button on the end of the head light stalk is the same for both types.
As Wheeler says, pick one with the same facility's as yours. HOWEVER, you run the risk of that unit having the the same fault!
