I Was Gifted a Peugeot 207CC SP

Unread post by Lighteater »

A very lovely friend of mine moved to Texas last year to be with her new hubby and - bless her! - she gave me her car before she left. He's red and called Benjie (a sort-of anagram of the number plate), making this the first car I've ever owned that is a) French, b) gendered, and c) named.

I love him way more than I expected. He's a fun drive. I had the roof down yesterday for the first time this year. The paintwork is failing in places and I'm seriously considering getting him wrapped (which is clearly ridiculous, considering he has 110,000 miles on the clock).

I live in the wilds of Northumberland and should be retired, but instead, I'm with a team working to launch a new bank. My first poetry collection came out in 2023 and I did my first Vipassana retreat in December (10 days of complete silence, no devices, no books or notebooks, 10 hours a day of meditation. Not for the faint-hearted!). I started trail running at the end of last year, just got back into squash, and I have my first Pilates class next week, the same day Benjie gets MOT'd.

I reckon that'll do for now.

Hello and welcome.
Lovely of your friend to pass that on to you and I’m glad you get so much enjoyment from the car.
Wonderful introduction you’ve posted there - Sounds like you have plenty else going on in your life, too!

Wow! Busy, busy, busy. Welcome to the forum.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.
